Summerside Travel Guide
Welcome to Summerside!
Located at Prince Edward Island's narrowest spot, Summerside is considered the province's second city after the capital, Charlottetown. As such, the city combines both the attractions and liveliness of a major city without being overrun by tourists. Quaint shopping districts, the famed Jubilee Theatre, many beautiful beaches and a variety of restaurants make Summerside worth a visit. Centrally positioned on the island, Summerside makes a terrific base from which to explore P.E.I. as it is a gateway to the western regions of the island, with both Confederation Trail and Lady Slipper Scenic Drive running through the area. The city is also home to many festivals celebrating both its relationship with the sea and Celtic and Acadian ancestry. The largest event is the Highland Gathering and Celtic Festival. Held by Summerside's world-famous College of Piping, the festivities include Celtic dance, sport and music competitions.
